California Careers in Biotechnology: A Counselor's Guide to the Best Jobs
This guide is for Community College and high school counselors, teachers, students, and anyone interested in entry level jobs in this industry. Generated by the California Community Colleges, this guide provides a clear and concise introduction to more than 20 biotechnology-related careers. Basic skills and education needed for each career are included, as well as relevant educational programs available in the 108 community colleges throughout the state.
Under the Microscope, Biotechnology Careers in California
This resource was put together by the California Economic Development Department and outlines many career options, including salary ranges and education levels. This resource also gives a great introduction to the life sciences industries, their future in California, and if careers in these industries are for you.
Careers in Biotechnology
These pages, provided by the Massachusetts Biotechnology Education Foundation, give a very thorough overview of careers available in the industry. Scroll down to the section entitled "Departments in a Biotechnology Company" for links to specific job titles with descriptions, required experience and education, and typical salaries. Federal Biosciences Industry Skills Standards
This is the product of a careful and thorough study conducted in cooperation with industry professionals and academics. The Federal Biosciences Industry Skills Standards Project ran from 1993-98 and focused on the necessary skills standards for entry-level bioscience technicians. This resource is most appropriate for people focusing on careers as technicians.
