Paid Internships: Overview

Last year the EDGE Initiative (Educating & Developing workers for the Green Economy) was awarded a $4 million grant to develop curricula and workforce training programs to support the growth of the San Diego region's biofuels sector. The public-private partnership includes CleanTECH San Diego, BIOCOM, The BIOCOM Institute, SanDiego Regional EDC, Imperial Valley EDC, San Diego Center for Algae Biotechnology, UC San Diego, UC San Diego Extension, San Diego State University, San Diego Workforce Partnership, and MiraCosta College.

HOW YOU BENEFIT

As part of our efforts, and as part of the grant, we have dollars available to support paid internships at local biofuels companies for these students. There is absolutely no cost to you, and we even have a third party that will handle all payroll functions and pre-screen applicants. As a host company, you would have the option to interview and screen candidates from our pool of applicants if you would like to. We have over 100 other resumes for you to select from as well.

We are seeking companies to provide internship opportunities to pre-trained interns who will enter your organization with advanced knowledge about the biofuels industry. Hiring an intern from the EDGE program will not only benefit your company, but also help ensure the region has a highly skilled biofuels workforce.
