INTERNSHIP INFORMATION FOR COMPANIES AND STUDENTS

The EDGE Initiative. The EDGE Initiative will provide education, training and placement services in the growing biofuels/industrial biotechnology industry to unemployed and incumbent workers within San Diego and the Imperial Valley.  Program curriculum has been carefully constructed with input from industry partners to ensure that the needs of these sectors are met with highly skilled workers.

EDGE Internship Payment Options


$10/hr for 8 weeks for 40 hours a week

$20/hr  for  4 weeks for 40 hours a week

Pay is non-negotiable. The company hosting the intern will choose the Duration of internship and pay. Overtime is not available. Do not ask the company for a higher pay. These payment options are set by the EDGE Grant and its partners.

Paid Interns for your Company

The EDGE Internship program has funding to pay for up to 100 interns, and provides host organizations the option of selecting pre-designated candidates for internships, or having EDGE partners identify qualified candidates.

Qualifications

Interns must be at least 18 years of age to qualify (Graduating undergraduate seniors and higher are perferred) and are required to take the Industrial Biotechnology Immersion Program prior to starting their internships. The Industrial Biotechnology Immersion Program is an online certificate program that uses industry driven curriculum to give individuals the business acumen and soft skills needed to successfully transition into industrial biotech careers. Companies will decide what other qualifications are required for your internship program. Companies will pick interns- not the BIOCOM Institute.
